Thing 30 - Thoughts about 2.0

What did I takeaway? A lot!!! I didn't even know about a Web 2 (and I don't mind waiting a bit longer for Web 3 ... just kidding!) and I daresay there is much much more "out there." Not only was this fun, well mostly, it was also encouraging listening to and watching staff "play." I can see many ways for libraries to use this technology and to keep in touch with our customers, in particular a generation of users for which this is a way of life.

Unexpected outcome: I haven't been keeping up with or experiementing with what I have been reading in the professional magazines. I feel like I should have been experimenting a little more ... paying more attention and thinking of ways to use some of this in the library. Mind you, I don't do much on my own computer at home, I only use it to keep in touch with family and a few friends. I love meebo for this! When I'm at work, there is already plenty to keep me busy ...

Although this has been entertaining, I did feel rushed toward the end ... which is only a couple of days away. The timing to undertake such a project was good ... we are done with SRP , etc and its usually a little quieter Nov-Feb. A smaller number of activities would be helpful. I started out reading everything - even though we only had to pick a couple of readings each time - but that fell to the wayside around thing 14 or so. This is when I began to skim read, and probably why Rollyo still eludes me.

Would I participate again. Absolutely. This is a productive, hands on way to learn new technology.

Cindy, thanks for all your hard work. I am sure there were some frustrating moments for you,
too - the spreadsheet, for example.
Great job!!
