Tagging is going to help anyone searching for an image, without tags, chaos will rule. This can help those searching find something close to what they are looking for. In Flikr, someone posting can have 75 tags per photo - in this way multiple characteristics of one photo can be searched. I mentioned in another posting the problem I had with finding an image because I didn't give credit, so tags definitely helped me to find that image again.
I've never been to a traditional sharing site so can't compare flikr to others. I just see it as fun way to communicate with our customers ... to show off the library and some events in one more way. Michael Stephens showed us ten fun ways to use flickr in and around the library.
